Wayne Rooney still holds tight to his aspiration of managing in the Premier League, and he has expressed a particular interest in overseeing Everton or Manchester United.

As a player, Rooney enjoyed a lengthy 16-year period at Goodison Park and Old Trafford. He recently expressed his desire to come back to either club as a manager. This desire persists despite his brief and unsuccessful foray into leading Birmingham that resulted in his premature dismissal after just three months.

The former Manchester United star took over from John Eustace in October. However, he was terminated from his position last month. During his 15-game tenure, he was only able to win two games and lost nine.

When Rooney became Birmingham's manager, they were ranked as the sixth team in the Championship. However, when he was fired, they were barely ahead of the relegation zone by only six points.

Rooney, who only managed to secure 14 victories out of 53 matches while at DC United, before taking over at St. Andrew's, maintained that the initial struggles in his career as a manager did not discourage him.

. Wayne Rooney still has his heart set on becoming a manager in the Premier League and has not given up on his aspirations.

Birmingham has terminated Rooney's contract in less than 90 days of his appointment as the head of the team.

He expressed his desire to return to a managerial role during his appearance as a commentator for Manchester United's FA Cup round five match against Nottingham Forest on Wednesday evening.

My ultimate goal is to become a manager in the Premier League. However, I understand that this is a journey that requires careful planning and dedication. Ideally, I would love to lead either Manchester United or Everton, but I'm aware that it takes time and hard work to reach this level of success.

'In the upcoming decade, it is my aspiration to have a shot at securing one of the most prestigious positions.'

The decision to appoint Rooney is a significant risk taken by Knighthead, an American group that includes a well-known NFL player, Tom Brady, and acquired control of the club last year.

The trial failed miserably, and the ex-Everton player admitted that it was not the appropriate moment for him to lead at St. Andrew's.

The previous occurrence in Birmingham was a hindrance, however, I am determined and willing to return to the game.

Being a manager often comes with experiencing a termination and facing obstacles, but what matters is how well you recover from them.

Rooney mentioned that the football teams he desires to coach are Everton and United. During his time with United, he was able to attain 12 significant awards.

. He started playing professionally for Everton and then made a comeback to the same stadium in 2017.

After some contemplation, I have a better understanding of what to do in the future. It would be great to have the opportunity to sign a player for a fee, since I have never done so before!

After taking some time to contemplate, I now have a clear idea of what actions to take in the future. It would be a delightful experience to sign a player with a monetary value, considering I have never done so before!

Despite this, Rooney remained convinced that he could never fully win the support of the fans.

He expressed that perhaps he chose the wrong time to join Birmingham, as the fans never fully embraced him from the very beginning.

The ex-English goal scorer conveyed comparable emotions when he chatted on the most recent installment of the Stick to Football podcast in association with Sky Bet last week.

"He said that the fans of Birmingham City didn't welcome him since the first day."

According to Rooney, he felt that during his three-month tenure as a manager in Birmingham, the fans never fully embraced him.

To give credit where it's due, John Eustace had performed well, however, they decided to make a shift and requested that I take over.

As I stepped inside, I immediately sensed that the fans were not receptive towards me.

In my opinion, the reason for John Eustace's dismissal may have been related to his success as the team was ranked sixth at the time.

If you support Birmingham, the past decade they've experienced, and they're nearing the play-offs - despite it being early in the season - and then the coach is fired.
