According to Wayne Rooney, he is eager to get back into management sooner rather than later. His ultimate goal is to lead either Manchester United or Everton, and he hopes to make that dream a reality.

After being in charge for less than three months, the former footballer for teams including Manchester United and Everton was dismissed from his role as manager for Championship team Birmingham in January.

Before his current role, Rooney managed Derby County and a team in the MLS called DC United.

The former England captain expressed on Match of the Day that his aspiration is to handle prestigious soccer teams such as Manchester United or Everton. He stated that he wants to reach these highly esteemed positions as a manager.

"The journey is ongoing," Rooney remarked, at the age of 38. "There are certain procedures I need to follow in order to set myself on the right path again."

While working as a pundit during United's FA Cup match against Nottingham Forest, he expressed his desire to return to management. He stated that by doing so, he hopes to position himself for one of the top jobs in the next decade.

On 11 October, Rooney was designated as the manager of Birmingham. This decision was made after a dispute regarding the departure of John Eustace, despite Blues being in sixth place in the Championship at the time.

Before the previous attacker, they suffered defeat in nine matches out of 15 and their position on the table plummeted to the 20th spot.

Rooney got fired following a 3-0 defeat against Leeds United on the second of January.

He expressed his desire to return to management after what went down in Birmingham. Despite the setback, he remains resolute and determined to pursue it.

As a manager, it's not uncommon to experience being dismissed from your position as it's a natural part of the job. What's important is how you recover from such setbacks and learn to move forward.

"After having ample time for introspection, I ensure that I will not repeat the same mistake in the future."
