Is Wayne Rooney unhappy with his BBC pundit role? Three Lions legend says he 'hasn't had any of the...
Wayne Rooney suggested that he was not satisfied with his role as a BBC pundit, as he did not get the chance to cover any England games at Euro 2024.
The former Three Lions star announced during a live broadcast that he is stepping down from his role as a pundit to return to the UK for his upcoming position in football management.
In his last broadcast appearance, he discussed Belgium's tie with Ukraine on Wednesday. Now, he has shared his insights on his time in Germany.
During the Football Daily podcast, Rooney discussed his experience with the BBC and mentioned, 'It's been fine. It's definitely a change from what I'm accustomed to.'
I have worked in television before, but I have also spent a lot of time here. So, it has been a unique experience, but I have enjoyed it.
Wayne Rooney suggested that he was not satisfied with his position as a BBC pundit during Euro 2024.
The former Three Lions player was upset that he didn't have the opportunity to commentate on any England matches.
Sadly, I haven't had the opportunity to discuss any of the England matches recently, and the matches I have covered haven't been very exciting. However, it is enjoyable to be able to spend some time here.
The BBC chose to broadcast two of England's three group stage games, but Rooney was not asked to be a commentator for either of them.
Instead, the BBC chose Gary Lineker, Cesc Fabregas, Rio Ferdinand, and Micah Richards to provide analysis for England's first game against Serbia.
In the upcoming match against Denmark, Lineker will be accompanied by Ferdinand, Richards, and Thomas Frank, the Danish manager of Brentford.
The BBC's reporting on England has stirred up some controversy lately, as several key players have pushed back against comments made by BBC presenter Lineker.
Rooney also thought about the situation and mentioned: 'I have participated in many tournaments over the past 20 years as a player and now being in a different role, I can see things from a pundit's perspective.'
We have observed the exchange of opinions between the England team and the experts, which is a bit unusual. However, I believe that everything that has been stated is accurate, and both the players and the manager have expressed similar thoughts.
'It's kind of weird. You want to be cautious, but you also want to be honest in your communication.'

"I'm heading back home tomorrow. The guys are coming back on July 3rd, so I'll be home and heading straight down to Plymouth," he mentioned.
Plymouth received their schedule for the season on Wednesday, and Rooney expressed, 'There was a lot of excitement today when we saw the fixtures.'
When you glance at the initial matches, your upcoming Christmas plans and things like that, you can't help but feel really thrilled.
Plymouth narrowly escaped relegation by only one point last season, and Rooney is optimistic that they won't be pulled into another struggle at the bottom of the standings in the upcoming 2024-25 season.
There are rumors that he and his wife, Coleen, are considering relocating to Salcombe in Devon, a fancy coastal town where a beer costs £7 and fish and chips are sold for £22.
On Wednesday, Coleen was seen showing off her legs as she completed tasks in Cheshire.
The stylish outfit displayed Coleen's fashion sense as she left a store where she had been shopping for phones after a relaxing visit to the beauty salon.
Coleen Rooney showed off her long legs in a beige romper and thick sandals while out and about in Cheshire on Wednesday.
Afterwards, Coleen appeared very happy as she confidently stood with her four sons for a photo on Instagram on Tuesday before England's Euros match against Slovenia.
After England's Euros game against Slovenia, Coleen happily took a picture with her four sons and posted it on Instagram.
Coleen's sons Kai, Klay, Kit, and Cass, who she has with her husband Wayne, accompanied her. Kai is 14 years old, Klay is 10, Kit is eight, and Cass is six.
The boys were all wearing the same sports shirts and shorts, while their youngest son Cass was dressed in an England football kit.
Rooney seems focused on turning things around at Plymouth after a terrible three-month period at Birmingham City last year.
He was brought in to take over for John Eustace even though Birmingham had started the season well. However, he only managed to win two out of 15 matches as the manager, and Birmingham dropped from sixth to 20th place in the Championship.
The former England national team player is returning to his home country to start pre-season training with his new team, Plymouth.
Rooney, who is 38 years old, was fired in January. Unfortunately, Birmingham's luck didn't get any better and they were relegated to League One just four months later.
Having previously coached Derby County, Rooney now has the opportunity to showcase his coaching abilities in the Championship once again.
Now he has a couple of days to adjust to life in England before focusing on pre-season.
