Waspi

What is Waspi?

Waspi stands for Women Against State Pension Inequality. It is a campaign group founded in 2015 by several women born in the 1950s who are against the changes to the state pension age. The changes in question are the rise in the state pension age for women from 60 to 66, which has led to a significant shortfall in their pension income. Many women affected by the changes did not have enough time to make alternative financial arrangements before they reached retirement age, putting them in financial difficulty.

The Campaign's Objectives

The objectives of the Waspi campaign are to achieve fair transitional state pension arrangements for the 1950s born women. The campaign aims to put pressure on the government to return the state pension age to the previous age of 60 for women who have been affected by the changes. The campaign also calls for compensation for women who have suffered a loss as a result of the new pension age. The Waspi campaign has been successful in raising public awareness on the issue, and many individuals and organizations have joined the campaign to support the cause.
