Details revealed for Wallace and Gromit Xmas film
The BBC has shared more information about the new Wallace and Gromit movie made by Aardman. This film will show for the first time on the BBC during the Christmas holidays and will also be coming to Netflix around the same time for audiences all over the world to enjoy.
The upcoming movie, Vengeance Most Fowl, will have a total runtime of 70 minutes. Its main antagonist will be the widely recognized Feathers McGraw who will make a comeback.
The episode entitled "Vengeance Most Fowl" showcases Gromit's increasing worry about Wallace's reliance on his gadgets. This ultimately proves to be a valid concern when Wallace creates a "smart gnome" that appears to possess a malevolent consciousness. The question arises: what is causing this abnormality? As the situation escalates rapidly, Gromit must confront his apprehension and combat the ominous entity, otherwise Wallace may not be able to innovate ever again!
Feathers McGraw was last spotted in the acclaimed short film The Wrong Trousers, which won both the prestigious BAFTA® and Academy Award® in 1993. This crafty and scheming penguin was already on the run from the law when he took up a room in Wallace and Gromit's home, where he plotted to use Wallace's advanced trousers to abscond with the valuable blue diamond. Since then, he has remained in prison, but he's now returning to get even.
Ben Whitehead, who has collaborated with Aardman for many years, providing his voice in The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists, Early Man, and various Wallace & Gromit franchise projects alongside Peter Sallis (the original voice of Wallace), stars in the role of the quirky and cheese-loving inventor from the North of England who lives with his best friend and faithful companion, Gromit. Recently announced, the new movie will also present the return of Peter Kay as Chief Inspector (previously PC) Mackintosh, in addition to new cast members, such as Lauren Patel (Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, Lloyd of the Flies), Reece Shearsmith (League of Gentleman, Inside No.9), with appearances from Diane Morgan (Afterlife, Motherland), Adjoa Andoh (Bridgerton, Invictus), and Lenny Henry (Three Little Birds, The Lord of the Rings). Their respective roles will be disclosed soon.
Nick Park, who is known for creating Wallace and Gromit and directing Vengeance Most Fowl, has shared that he had an idea for a movie about garden gnomes turning evil for more than ten years. However, he could never figure out why they would be bad. Then, he realized that fans often asked him if Feathers McGraw, the penguin who was Wallace and Gromit's original enemy from The Wrong Trousers 30 years ago, would ever return. Though they brought him back in small parts in the past, it felt like the right time for him to have a bigger role. That's when Park had an epiphany: Feathers could be involved with the bad gnomes. The goal of the film is to please "Gnome Noir" fans everywhere, and to show what Feathers has been up to since his last appearance in The Wrong Trousers.
Merlin Crossingham, the person in charge of creating the ideas for Wallace and Gromit and the director of the movie "Vengeance Most Fowl", mentioned, "Even though we really enjoy getting current fans excited about our work, we also hope this movie is available to individuals who haven't had the pleasure of experiencing Wallace and Gromit before. We aspire that Vengeance Most Fowl incorporates everything that individuals love about Wallace and Gromit but at the same time present new ideas to their ongoing story."
According to BBC's Chief Content Officer, Charlotte Moore, the upcoming Wallace and Gromit movie will be a hit with viewers young and old this Christmas. The beloved character Feathers McGraw will be back, along with some clever contraptions such as a "smart gnome," making for an exciting and unforgettable adventure that highlights the best of British creativity. You won't want to miss it!
This Christmas, the BBC will debut the latest creation from the mind of Nick Park: Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl (1x70'). The show will be available worldwide via Netflix, excluding the UK. Alongside Park, Merlin Crossingham served as the creative director with Mark Burton (known for Madagascar, Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, and Shaun the Sheep Movie) co-writing the story. Richard Beek produced the film, and Mark Burton handled the screenplay.
