White House: Russia Escalates Conflict In Ukraine

The White House just announced that Russia is responsible for “intensifying at every opportunity” in its conflict with Ukraine, marking just over 1,000 days since the invasion of its smaller neighbor.

This increase in tensions saw North Korea, a supporter of Russia, sending soldiers to assist President Vladimir Putin in his military campaign.

"The increase in tensions at every opportunity is originating from Russia," said White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre to the reporters present in the daily briefing room located in the west wing of the White House in Washington, DC.

Jean-Pierre mentioned that the United States has previously cautioned Moscow against getting involved.

"A different nation located in another region of the globe."

US Official: Russia Warned Before Attack

A US official revealed that Russia informed the United States just before launching an experimental intermediate-range ballistic missile at the Ukrainian city of Dnipro.

A US official was cited by Reuters as stating:

The United States received a short advance warning prior to the launch via channels designed for reducing nuclear risks.

Dmitry Peskov, a spokesperson for the Kremlin, stated that Moscow notified Washington 30 minutes prior to firing the missile at Ukraine, according to a report from Russia's state-run news agency, Tass.

Peskov informed Tass that the Russian authorities alerted the Americans regarding the launch of 'Oreshnik.'

The White House stated during a recent press briefing in Washington, DC, that the United States finds no justification for altering its nuclear stance or policies in response to Russia's recent announcements.

The White House criticized what it called "reckless" language coming from Moscow.

Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stated that there has been no justification for us to change our nuclear stance or strategy in light of Russia's comments.

She mentioned a little while later:

There is no evidence that Russia is getting ready to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine. This seems to be just more of the reckless rhetoric we've heard from them over the last two years. Russia has the ability to put an end to this war whenever they choose; they could stop it today if they wanted to.

White House: Russia Escalates Tensions In Ukraine

The White House stated just a short while ago that Russia is responsible for “intensifying the conflict at every opportunity” in its ongoing war in Ukraine, marking more than 1,000 days since it launched an invasion of the smaller country.

As part of that escalation, North Korea, a close ally of Russia, has deployed troops to support President Vladimir Putin's military campaign.

"The increase in tensions at every opportunity is being driven by Russia," said White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre during a press briefing with reporters in the West Wing of the White House in Washington, DC.

Jean-Pierre mentioned that the United States has previously cautioned Moscow against getting involved.

"A different nation in a separate region of the globe."

Vladimir Putin’s speech to the country was broadcast on television following Ukraine's announcement on Thursday that Russia had launched an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) targeting the central city of Dnipro.

According to Ukraine's air forces, between 5 AM and 7 AM local time, nine missiles were fired at businesses and essential infrastructure in Dnipro, originating from the Astrakhan region of Russia.

The air force reported that the missile struck but claimed it had "no consequences." However, they also mentioned that they had not yet received any information about casualties.

According to a morning update from the air force, six out of the nine missiles were intercepted and destroyed by air defense systems.

Early unverified reports from Ukraine indicated that Russia may have deployed ICBMs, which are weapons intended for long-range nuclear attacks and have not been used in conflict before. However, there was no indication that these weapons were armed with nuclear warheads.

Three US officials indicated that it was a type of intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM) with a shorter distance capability. Typically, intermediate-range ballistic missiles can travel between 3,000 and 5,500 kilometers (1,860 to 3,415 miles).

Putin: Missile Attack Response To NATO Aggression

Vladimir Putin stated that Russia's use of an experimental medium-range ballistic missile aimed at a military target in Ukraine was a reaction to the "hostile actions of NATO nations towards Russia."

The Russian leader stated that the attack on Thursday morning was a reaction to Ukrainian missile strikes targeting Russian land, which involved US and British missiles earlier in the week.

In statements reported by the Moscow Times, Putin mentioned:

We believe we have the right to take military action against targets in countries that use their weapons against us. If hostilities increase, we will respond firmly and appropriately.

In a televised speech, Russia's leader, Vladimir Putin, announced that his troops had successfully tested a new hypersonic ballistic missile called "Oreshnik," which translates to "hazel" in Russian.

One of the activities performed involved testing one of Russia's newest medium-range missile systems. In this instance, a ballistic missile fitted with a non-nuclear hypersonic warhead was employed.

He mentioned that the tests were considered a success, noting that the objective had been hit "as planned."

Putin: Russia Launches Test Missile At Ukraine

Vladimir Putin has stated that Russia launched a hypersonic medium-range ballistic missile at a Ukrainian military location. He also cautioned Western nations that Moscow "holds the right" to target countries that supply Kyiv with long-range weaponry.

In a surprise televised speech to the nation on Thursday night, the Russian leader announced that Russia had successfully tested a new hypersonic ballistic missile named Oreshnik, which was aimed at a military site in the Ukrainian city of Dnipro.

The Russian leader stated that Thursday morning's attack on Ukraine was a reaction to Ukrainian missile strikes on Russian land that occurred earlier in the week, using weapons supplied by the US and the UK.
