Nigel Farage: Milkshake ‘circus’ was publicity for my attacker’s OnlyFans page
Victoria Thomas Bowen has also pleaded guilty to committing criminal damage at the Westminster magistrates' court.
Nigel Farage has claimed that the woman who splashed a milkshake on him during a campaign event is trying to gain attention for her OnlyFans modeling profile.
Victoria Thomas Bowen, 25, splashed a McDonald's beverage on the leader of Reform UK outside a bar in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, while the general election campaign was in progress.
When she appeared in Westminster Magistrates' Court on Monday, she admitted to the charge of assault by beating.
She also acknowledged that she had committed criminal damage by ruining a jacket valued at £17.50, which belonged to James Woolfenden, who serves as Mr. Farage’s security officer.
In a video shared on X following the hearing, Mr. Farage alleged that Thomas Bowen, who shares content on the adult site OnlyFans, was trying to gain attention through his actions.
He mentioned, "I'm relieved it was just a milkshake. We went to Westminster Magistrates' Court this morning, and there was a lot of commotion. Then, just at the very end, she admitted her guilt."
Consider all the public funds and time that have been squandered by dragging this situation into the magistrate's court. At any moment during this process, she had the option to admit her guilt but decided against it.
"She has an account on OnlyFans, which means she benefits financially from any attention she receives."
Such actions are harmful to our democracy. It’s no surprise that Keir Starmer and Rishi Sunak hardly interacted with any voters during the entire election campaign. To be honest, she has made a mockery of the entire system.
"I can't determine the sentence she will receive, but she will have earned it, no matter what it may be."
Mr. Farage, currently the MP for Clacton, was covered in a milkshake when he exited the Moon and Starfish pub in the coastal town. This incident occurred after he spoke to his supporters during a general election campaign rally on June 4. The milkshake left stains on his dark blue suit.
Thomas Bowen initially pleaded not guilty to the accusations and was supposed to face trial on Monday, but he switched his plea to guilty just before the trial was set to start.
It was reported that she was seen sitting outside the pub while Mr. Farage was talking to reporters before he departed, and that's when she was charged £2.79 for her drink.
Bowen was subsequently caught, and bystanders reported hearing someone yell "silly little girl" as the milkshake was tossed.
At the time, James Cleverly, who was the home secretary, criticized the assault on Mr. Farage. This occurred shortly after Mr. Farage had declared his comeback to active politics during a press conference that took place less than a day earlier.
However, Mr. Farage downplayed the situation in a video he shared online. Quoting the 2003 hit "Milkshake" by Kelis, he lifted a McDonald's milkshake in front of the camera and remarked, "My milkshake attracts all the crowd to the rally."
He was present in court on Monday, anticipating that he would testify before Thomas Bowen admitted guilt.
After the event, a woman named Victoria shared with the BBC that she did not go to Mr. Farage's campaign launch with the intention of throwing a drink at him; she simply "felt like it."
Thomas Bowen boasts over 18,000 followers on Instagram.
She has previously backed Jeremy Corbyn, the former leader of the Labour Party, on social media and has urged a boycott of the late Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
This isn't the first instance of Mr. Farage being targeted with a milkshake during his campaign activities.
He cautioned that "extremist Remainers" were making it difficult to conduct political campaigns, following an incident in 2019 when a drink was thrown at him during a campaign event in Newcastle for the European elections.
