A company that sells heating oil tanks, located near Stratford upon Avon, saw a growth in revenue of over £450,000 within a year after getting marketing advice from a complimentary business service. This service is funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and Warwickshire County Council.

Quicktanks, established by Brendan Mutton in 2019, offers a variety of heating oil containers to both professional installers and individual homeowners across the nation via their online platform.

During a period of consistent trading, Quicktanks seemed to be reaching a limit in terms of acquiring new sales. With the assistance of a business support program called Business Ready, Quicktanks revamped its strategy for Google advertising and saw an immediate improvement in results.

Our sales were not terrible, but last year we reached a point where sales growth was not meeting our expectations.

I had previously collaborated with Steve Tipson at Business Ready for my other company, Muttons Country Store, so I reached out to him again to see if they could help with Quicktanks.

We met with Steve to discuss our marketing plan and he pointed out that investing in Google ads, boosting SEO, and hiring an agency to manage it could draw in more website visitors.

Once we reviewed the information, we decided to bring in a professional agency to execute our plans. The result was an immediate increase in sales leads.

Throughout the year, it resulted in an extra £452,000 in revenue, which was a fantastic outcome.

The helpful guidance from Business Ready and the support from Steve allowed us to make a well-informed decision. They guided us through the process instead of telling us what to do.

Because of that suggestion, we are now considering expanding into additional varieties of storage containers, like water and septic tanks, much sooner than we initially planned.

Steve Tipson, a consultant for Business Ready, assisted Brendan in selecting a superior agency and developing an effective digital marketing plan.

The most important observation I made while collaborating with Quicktanks was that their advertising spending was not effectively attracting new customers and increasing sales.

"We wanted to change the way Quicktanks thinks about hiring a specialized agency to take on most of the work and being careful about where you invest your money is a smart business move."

Brendan and his team have achieved incredible results, and it will be exciting to see how they progress with their plans for growth.

Council member Martin Watson, in charge of the Economy department at Warwickshire County Council, stated:

The Business Ready program provides personalized assistance to businesses in Warwickshire, assisting in their growth and development throughout the county.

"Several small businesses in the area have seen positive results from participating in the Business Ready program, and Quicktanks serves as a shining example of how the program can assist businesses in reevaluating their marketing plans and effectively using the various resources at their disposal."

"I am the one in charge of overseeing the planning and economic development activities at the Stratford-on-Avon District Council," stated Cllr George Cowcher.

"It's exciting to witness the rapid expansion of a new business in southern Warwickshire. By utilizing our range of business support services, we can assist ambitious companies such as Quicktanks in achieving rapid growth."

Business Ready is a component of the Business Growth Warwickshire initiative. It is administered by University of Warwick Science Park on behalf of Warwickshire County Council and the five District and Borough Councils in Warwickshire. This assistance is partially financed by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (distributed by the District and Borough Councils) and Warwickshire County Council.
