Manchester United may consider taking Manuel Ugarte on loan from Paris Saint-Germain in an effort to bring their desired midfielder to Old Trafford.

United still wants to purchase the Uruguayan player, who was bought by PSG for €60m last year. However, there is still a difference in how much each team values the 23-year-old player, just like there has been all summer.

United have thought about three less expensive midfielders, but one has already transferred this summer. Another one is expected to move too, as the Premier League club is still concentrating on Ugarte. They might check if PSG would be willing to do a loan deal instead of a permanent one, since they have already spent more than £150m this summer. They aim to make a fifth signing that fits within their budget.

Manchester United were considering signing Sander Berge, but they won't compete with Fulham, who have placed a £20m offer for the Norwegian player. It is probable that he will end up joining the team in London instead. On the other hand, Youssouf Fofana, whom they were also interested in, has been transferred from Monaco to AC Milan.

Sofyan Amrabat, who had a varied time on loan at Old Trafford last year, is another choice they have discussed. The Morocco player, who has gone back to Fiorentina, would not cost as much as Ugarte.

PSG have expressed interest in Jadon Sancho, who was not included in United's squad for Friday's game against Fulham. Meanwhile, Luis Enrique has acquired Desire Doue from Rennes as a winger. Additionally, PSG has secured Joao Neves from Benfica as a central midfielder, potentially filling Ugarte's spot.

If Fulham ends up purchasing Berge, it might increase the chances of Scott McTominay staying at Old Trafford. Fulham's bid for McTominay, who is nearing the end of his contract, was turned down. However, Erik ten Hag sees value in the Scotland international. Napoli is also keen on McTominay but might prefer a loan deal over meeting United's asking price. Burnley's upcoming sale of Berge could be advantageous for United as the Championship club sees Hannibal Mejbri as a potential replacement. United is more inclined to sell rather than loan the Tunisia international. Additionally, United is in advanced talks to sell Facundo Pellistri to Panathinaikos.
