The UFL was founded in 1993 by Art Davie and Rorion Gracie. The first event, coined "UFC 1: The Beginning," was held in Denver, Colorado on November 12, 1993. It was a one-night, eight-man tournament that was billed as a "no-holds-barred" fighting contest featuring fighters from various disciplines. Over the years, the UFL has undergone significant changes, including the implementation of weight classes, a strict set of rules, and wider safety precautions.
