Belgium's 1-0 loss to Israel in the Nations League on Sunday has intensified the scrutiny on Domenico Tedesco, yet the coach remains confident that he is the best fit for the position.
Belgium has managed to secure only two victories in its last ten international matches and narrowly escaped finishing last in its group, avoiding relegation from the top division thanks to its superior head-to-head record against Israel.
The 39-year-old is facing criticism following Belgium's disappointing performance at the European Championship. Although the loss in Budapest on Sunday didn't help relieve the pressure on him, Tedesco maintained a hopeful outlook about his position.
"I have confidence in my abilities. I believe in my team, both my staff and my players. I have faith in those around me. I'm aware of the effort I put in," he stated.

Belgium's cautious strategy has faced criticism during the entire six-match campaign, even though Tedesco had pledged a more daring style following their disappointing exit against France in the Round of 16 at Euro 2024 in July.
“Following the Euros, I mentioned that we need to make some adjustments in our games. We lacked intensity, and we should give new players a chance. If we don't take this step now, we might never get the opportunity to do so,” Tedesco explained to the press.
"This season was unique due to a significant number of injuries."
Belgium was missing several important players during their final group match on Sunday and ended up losing the game late due to a crucial defensive mistake by newcomer Matte Smets.
"It was a challenging match, with tough situations, and I find it hard to criticize this young team," Tedesco mentioned.
"We're more prepared now to head into next year's World Cup qualifiers."
Although there was plenty of discussion in Belgium about his future following the defeat to Israel, Tedesco remained unfazed by the situation.
"The negative attitude isn't a surprise. I've been informed that this is quite common in Belgium," he continued.
"Of course, the outcomes in the Nations League weren’t beneficial, but in March, we’re facing a crucial playoff that will determine whether we stay in the A League. It’ll be great to kick off the New Year with a strong commitment."
