Rylan has responded to the criticism aimed at Tulisa Contostavlos during the 2024 premiere episode of I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!
The N-Dubz vocalist served as a judge on The X Factor in 2012 when Rylan participated and secured fourth place. Her return to the ITV reality series comes after a challenging ten years for the artist.
Rylan, now a thriving television host, expressed his backing for Contostavlos as the premiere episode kicked off. He posted a picture of the singer with the caption: “YES 2012, let’s goooooo!”
He continued: "Before anyone starts making comments about her looks, it’s important to remember that Tulisa has faced significant health challenges in recent years. So let’s avoid making disrespectful jokes about her on Twitter, okay?"
In 2020, Contostavlos received a clean bill of health for all her challenges on I'm a Celeb. However, she was diagnosed with Bell's palsy, which causes temporary weakness that typically impacts one side of the face.
This diagnosis came 13 years after the singer faced severe health problems unrelated to this condition.
In an interview, she shared that she frequently experienced a feeling similar to ants moving on her face. Last month, Contostavlos disclosed that one of the many doctors she visited discovered "three long-term infected cysts" in her cheek.
When discussing her expectations for the jungle experience, Contostavlos expressed, “I anticipate that I’ll find it tough during the first few days since this is a significant challenge for me. I’m quite tender-hearted and tend to be emotional.”
"I haven't experienced this level of attention in a long time, and I've been staying away from it because of some unfounded fears. I expect to feel quite overwhelmed at first when I get started. It might take me some time to adjust, but I’m confident that I’ll get through it."

Contostavlos gained widespread recognition when the hip hop group she became a part of, alongside her cousin Dappy and their friend Fazer, won the Mobo award for best newcomer in 2007. That year, N-Dubz also signed a contract with Polydor, and their first album achieved double platinum status. It featured four singles that reached the UK top 40, including “Ouch,” “Papa Can You Hear Me?” and “Strong Again.”
The singer commented on her inclusion in the show "I’m a Celeb," stating, “My main goal is to genuinely be myself. If being true to who I am resonates with a lot of people, then it means I’m on the right path in life.”
