London Tube strikes: Trade union Aslef in talks with TfL

Tube strikes

Negotiations have restarted between Transport for London (TfL) and the Aslef trade union in an effort to prevent strikes and come to an agreement on working conditions.

There will be interruptions to London Underground services on Thursday, November 7, and Tuesday, November 12. Travelers are encouraged to make arrangements in advance for these dates.

The union has been advocating for a four-day workweek for Tube drivers to align their hours with those of other operators across the UK.

The planned strike by the RMT union on November 1 was canceled after negotiations about pay with Transport for London (TfL) took place.

Tom Edwards, the transport correspondent for BBC London, reported that Aslef is fairly satisfied with the pay proposal but is eager to talk about transitioning to a four-day work week, similar to what other operators are doing.

Currently, the strike that will close the Tube on Thursday, November 7, and Tuesday, November 12, is definitely going ahead.

Claire Mann, the chief operating officer of TfL, has stated that they will encourage Aslef to cancel its scheduled activities for the upcoming week.

TfL has recommended that fans going to the Chelsea vs. Noah UEFA Conference League game at Stamford Bridge in Fulham should make arrangements in advance before their journey.

JP Cooper, the singer, has called off what he described as his "largest UK concert" after fans expressed concerns that the upcoming Tube strike would prevent them from attending or getting home afterward.
