Important news about money and politics in the competition for the presidency

Donald Trump was secure after being quickly escorted offstage by Secret Service agents during a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday when what seemed like gunshots were heard in the crowd.

The likely Republican candidate for president ducked when he heard the noises and was taken to his group of cars by agents carrying weapons. There was blood on his right ear and running down his cheek.

Video of the situation seemed to indicate that a Secret Service agent stated "shooter is down". The Associated Press stated that the individual was deceased, and a person attending the rally had also been slain, as per the district attorney in Butler County, Pennsylvania. A representative for the DA did not reply to a comment request right away.

Trump raised his fist in the air before being placed into a car. It was uncertain where he was being transported to.

Steven Cheung, who is in charge of communication for the Trump campaign, stated that Trump is doing well and is currently undergoing a medical evaluation at a nearby healthcare center.

President Trump expresses gratitude to law enforcement and first responders for their swift response during this terrible incident," Cheung stated.

A situation happened on the evening of July 13 at a Trump event in Pennsylvania. The Secret Service has put security measures in place and the ex-President is out of harm's way," said Secret Service representative Anthony Guglielmi. "This is currently being investigated by the Secret Service and more details will be shared once they are ready."

The Secret Service's job is to keep current and ex-presidents safe.

The event occurred shortly after the ex-president started talking at a gathering of fans in Butler, Pennsylvania, a small town in the northwestern part of the state. Trump's events typically have tight security measures in place, led by the Secret Service working together with local law enforcement.

Josh Shapiro, the Pennsylvania governor from the Democratic party, stated that he had received information about what was happening and that state police were present at the rally, collaborating with federal and local authorities.

The White House reported that President Joe Biden, currently in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, was given an "early update" on the situation by Secret Service director Kimberly Cheatle, Homeland Security secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, and Homeland Security advisor Liz Sherwood-Randall. Vice President Kamala Harris was also informed of the incident.

Biden did not respond right away to the incident.

Pete Buttigieg, who is in charge of transportation, was the initial member of the cabinet to comment. He stated, "I am grateful to hear that President Trump's team has mentioned that he is recovering during this terrible situation."

The speaker emphasized the importance of the entire nation coming together to strongly denounce any acts of political violence.

Mike Johnson, the person who leads the discussions in the US House, shared on a specific day that he was informed about the situation and was sending good thoughts to President Trump. Other important figures, such as Trump's previous second-in-command Mike Pence and Mike Pompeo, who used to be in charge of foreign affairs, also expressed similar feelings.

Elon Musk, the man in charge of X, Tesla, and SpaceX, expressed his full support for Trump and wished for a complete recovery. In a tweet, he mentioned that the last time America had a candidate as strong as Trump was Theodore Roosevelt.

Many top Democrats expressed their backing for the ex-president.

Chuck Schumer, the leader of the Democrats in the Senate, expressed in a statement that he was shocked by the events and glad that former President Trump was unharmed. He also noted that acts of violence for political reasons have no place in our nation.

Hakeem Jeffries, the leading Democrat in the US House, expressed similar feelings, stating that he appreciates the swift action taken by law enforcement.

Nancy Pelosi, a long-time member of the US Congress representing the Democratic Party, shared her condolences and well wishes. Former president Barack Obama expressed his belief that political violence has no place in our democracy.

Leaders from around the world showed their backing, including Hungarian premier Viktor Orban and Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu, who expressed being taken aback by the incident.

The event took place a few days prior to the beginning of the Republican National Convention, where Trump is scheduled to officially receive his party's nomination for president.
