Arsenal set to complete £27m Leandro Trossard deal TODAY ahead of Man United clash as Gunners turn to Brighton winger after losing out on Mykhailo Mudryk

Arsenal are expected to complete the signing of Leandro Trossard today.

The Gunners have agreed a £27million deal with Brighton for the Belgian winger and want the move completed by midday on Friday so he can be available for selection against Manchester United on Sunday.

Mikel Arteta sanctioned a move for Trossard after the club lost out on long-standing transfer target Mykhailo Mudryk, who instead joined London rivals Chelsea last week.

The 28-year-old has already agreed personal terms with the Premier League leaders on a contract that will run until 2027, with the option of a further year.

He will become Arsenal’s first arrival of the January transfer window.

Arsenal appear to have edged out arch rivals Tottenham to Trossard, with reports Spurs had offered around £12m for a player who has 18 months left on his contract on the south coast.

The winger – who has scored seven goals and recorded three assists this campaign – found himself dropped from Brighton’s squad for their match against Liverpool after making it clear he wanted to move on.

He has also been banished from first-team training amid questions over his attitude.

Seagulls boss Roberto De Zerbi had a public spat with his forward’s agent, in which the player’s representative accused De Zerbi of bullying him.

Meanwhile, the Brighton manager claimed Trossard hadn’t been giving maximum effort in training and matches.

Arsenal, on the other hand, have been looking to boost their squad depth in their title charge, particularly when it comes to their attacking options.

Gabriel Jesus is still some time off returning from a knee injury suffered at the World Cup, while Emile Smith-Rowe has only just returned to action after a lengthy absence.

The Gunners currently sit five points clear at the top of the Premier League, with a game in hand on second-placed Man City, ahead of Sunday’s visit of Man United.
