Trooping the Colour 2024: Who will be on the balcony for King Charles' celebration as Princess Kate...

Trooping The Colour 2024

It has not been confirmed by the Princess of Wales if she will attend the Trooping the Colour ceremony celebrating the King's birthday this year.

There are reports that Kate might show up at an event if she feels up to it, but she didn't attend the Colonel's Review on June 8, which is a practice ceremony for Trooping the Colour.

In case she can't attend the festivity, it will mark the initial occasion she has missed it, given that Covid-19 caused the ceremony to be reduced in size in the years 2020 and 2021.

This year, there will be a change from the usual practice as King Charles III will ride in a carriage instead of on horseback. The reason for the change is due to the advice of the doctor.

Therefore, in the midst of the King's efforts to have a 'leaner monarchy', who is expected to make an appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony during Trooping the Colour which will take place on June 15th?

With the King's effort to create a smaller royal family, you may be curious about who will be present on the balcony during Trooping the Colour (an event set to take place in 2023).

It is rumored that the Princess of Wales, who was spotted in 2020, is thinking about showing up at an event "if she is up to it." Unfortunately, she was absent for the Colonel's Review on June 8th.

. The group who appeared on the balcony during Trooping the Colour in 2023, which is shown above, consisted of only 14 members from the Royal Family. This marks one of the rare instances in which the balcony gathering has been so small.

"Last Year's Balcony Royals: Who Were They?"

King Charles appeared alongside Queen Camilla on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to celebrate his first Trooping the Colour as the reigning monarch. This was a natural occurrence.

Charles' oldest child, Prince William, was on their right while riding on a horse during the procession. Later, he met up with his family on the balcony, where his spouse, Kate, and their offspring - Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis - were present.

Standing beside the King and Queen on the opposite side were Prince Edward, who is Charles' sibling, and Sophie, also known as the Duchess of Edinburgh.

Princess Anne and her spouse Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence were positioned adjacent to Prince William and his household, whereas the Duke of Kent and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester were situated at a greater distance on the opposite side.

Overall, the balcony gathering for Trooping the Colour in 2023 was one of the tiniest in the recent past.

Prince Andrew wasn't present, as he had previously stepped away from his responsibilities as a senior member of the royal family. Moreover, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were also absent.

Last year, solely functioning members of the royal family were present on the balcony. Notwithstanding, this principle was originally established by the deceased Queen Elizabeth during her last Trooping the Colour in 2022 (depicted on the left) - even though there were more functioning royals present at that time compared to a year later (depicted on the right).

Nonetheless, the King could think about including some far-off family members including Princess Beatrice (wearing red), Princess Eugenie (standing behind Princess Beatrice), and Zara Tindall (on the right). These three have all stepped up and helped out during his and Kate's medical struggles.

During her reign, the former Queen Elizabeth II would gather her extended relatives to the palace balcony. However, rumors have circulated that Charles aims to establish a monarchy with fewer members. This was evident last year when only working royals were present during the gathering.

Nevertheless, the aforementioned protocol was initially implemented by the deceased Queen Elizabeth during her last Trooping the Colour in 2022. At that time, there were more working members of the royal family than there were in the subsequent year.

If everything stays the same this year, Kate's absence due to sickness might be the sole difference from 2023.

Due to her health issues, as well as those of the King's, several lower-ranking members of the royal family have stepped forward to fill the voids created by their absence.

This became even more relevant since Prince Harry and his family, who were not part of their royal duties in 2020, have not been included in the King's birthday celebration for two consecutive years. It is believed that they were not given an invitation.

Therefore, as he and his sons' families were unavailable for a considerable portion of the past year, King Charles' relatives who were further away stepped up to fill the gap.

At recent royal events, important individuals present were Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, Zara and Mike Tindall, and Peter Tindall. They were notably seen at a garden party held at Buckingham Palace in May.

According to The Telegraph, the monarch has to decide if he should reintroduce those individuals back to the balcony group.
