Trevor Sorbie, a beloved figure on This Morning, has announced that he might not live to see Christmas, as he has chosen to stop his cancer treatment.
The renowned hairstylist, aged 76, has styled the hair of various famous figures such as Dame Helen Mirren, Kylie Minogue, and members of The Beatles, George Harrison and Paul McCartney. Other notable clients include Robbie Williams, Bryan Ferry, and Lorraine Kelly.
Last month, Sorbie announced that he has been diagnosed with advanced bowel cancer that has spread to his liver.
Even though he was informed that chemotherapy might extend his life by another month, the hairdresser turned it down, expressing, "I just can't endure any more of that toxic treatment," in a conversation with The Times.
He mentioned that he was informed he might have just a few weeks remaining in his life.
"When I inquired with a nurse about my chances of being here for Christmas, she replied, 'We can't say for sure, Trevor.' That response frustrated me. Sure, I have cancer physically, but mentally, I'm strong and healthy," he explained. "My mind drives me, and I'll decide when it's time to go."
Although he isn’t undergoing any additional chemotherapy, he continues to receive steroid injections to help alleviate pain and swelling. Unfortunately, this has also led to severe insomnia for him.
"I'm someone who tends to be anxious and overly sensitive, and I often find myself worrying," he mentioned, noting that he's become accustomed to not getting enough sleep. "I can't approach things halfway; it's all or nothing for me."
He also talked about his experience of dressing Naomi Campbell for an Elle magazine photoshoot.
"They asked for it to be tied back in a ponytail," he explained. "But when I started working with the next model, she removed the hair tie and tossed it on the ground."
Reflecting on the moment he received his diagnosis last month, Sorbie shared, “I experienced significant blood loss one night and was feeling unusually anxious, so I decided to go to the hospital.”

"When I was informed that I had bowel cancer, I experienced a brief panic. I glanced over at Carole, my wife, and we both stared at each other, completely at a loss for words. To cope with the news, I decided to pour myself a large gin and tonic."
When discussing what drives him in his work, he shared, “I’ve styled wigs for women who are really struggling, unable to hold their heads up. You need to show a lot of compassion… ‘I’m here to support you. I want you to look great.’ For as long as I can remember, I’ve made it my mission to help women feel confident and positive about themselves.”
