Tourists missing on Greek islands

According to reports from local media, a US traveler who had gone missing was discovered deceased on a beach situated on a tiny Greek island towards the west of Corfu.

On a relatively secluded beach situated on the island of Mathraki, the corpse of a man was discovered on Sunday by an additional vacationer. This individual had been reported as gone from his Greek-American buddy on the previous Thursday. The said person had been recently witnessed on Tuesday, hanging out at a neighboring cafe with two ladies who have since abandoned the island.

We don't have any additional information about the victim such as their name or place of origin at the moment.

Mathraki is an island situated west of the more prominent Corfu island. It has dense forests covering an area of 3.9 square kilometers and is home to a population of 100 people.

This is the most recent event in a series of incidents where tourists in the Greek islands have either passed away or vanished. It is possible that some or all of them ventured out for hikes during times of extreme heat.

A 74-year-old Dutch tourist's corpse was detected by a drone from the fire department on Saturday. The body was discovered lying face down in a gorge, 300 meters away from the location where he was seen last Sunday. He was seen struggling to walk in the scorching temperature.

Last Sunday, the famous British TV host and writer, Dr. Michael Mosley, was discovered deceased on the Symi Island. According to the coroner's report, he passed away on Wednesday after taking a challenging and rocky hike.

Last Friday, there was a report of two French visitors who had gone missing on the island of Sikinos. This island belongs to the Cyclades islands group and can be found in the Aegean Sea. It's a quiet place with a population of just under 400 people.

The pair of ladies, one aged 64 and the other aged 73, departed their separate lodging establishments to rendezvous.

The authorities are currently looking for a missing tourist who is 59 years old on the island of Amorgos in the Cyclades. He went for a hike alone on Tuesday in extremely hot weather conditions and hasn't been seen since. US media outlets have identified him as Albert Calibet, a retired deputy sheriff from Hermosa Beach, California.
