Beginning in Scotland, the six sections of the competition put together by British Cycling will wind their way southward until reaching the final destination of the ferry port of Felixstowe in Suffolk over a span of six days from September 3rd to September 8th.

In the blog, it was mentioned that 18 teams from 12 different countries are competing in the event. This includes six teams that also took part in the Tour de France earlier this year. In total, there are 108 riders participating in the race.

In the lineup of top cyclists, we have TeamGB Olympic champion Tom Pidcock and Belgian Olympic double gold medallist Remco Evenepoel, who recently competed in Paris.

We examine where the race route will go in the upcoming days.

Exploring Scottish Borders On Tuesday, September 3rd

The first stage of the race in the Scottish Borders saw French cyclist Paul Magnier emerge victorious.

Participants completed the 113.1-mile route in approximately four hours, beginning and ending in Kelso. Along the way, they passed through Coldstream, Gordon, Melrose, Denholm, Jedburgh, and St Boswells.

The race course had two loops, so people in Kelso and Melrose, as well as those watching at Scott's View and Dingleton during the King of the Mountains climbs, were able to see the race pass by twice.

September 4th: Darlington To Redcar

Phase two is a 94-mile competition that starts in Darlington and goes through the Tees Valley and North Yorkshire before reaching Redcar for the first time in over a decade.

Traveling through Whitby, this part includes uphill sections at Lythe Bank and the famous Saltburn Bank, which must be conquered twice.

Participants will begin their journey at 11am and are anticipated to complete it by the middle of the afternoon.

Sheffield To Barnsley: Stage 3 On September 5th

As soon as stage three of the race kicks off in Sheffield, the riders will face some tough climbs right away. Heading towards the west, they will pass by the Peak District National Park. The first challenging climb will be on Long Lane above Loxley.

There is another challenging hill called Jawbone Hill that cyclists will need to conquer before reaching Chapeltown, Wath upon Dearne, Swinton, and Maltby. After that, they will have a sprint in the market town of Tickhill.

Avoiding Doncaster by going through Conisbrough and Denaby, cyclists will then go around the northern part of Barnsley via Royston and Darton before encountering a tough ascent at Hound Hill, a last hurdle for riders before reaching the end.

Friday 6 Sept: Derby To Newark

The fourth stage will start in Derby, marking the first time in the 20-year history of the race that it will begin there. The stage will begin at 11am outside the Derby Arena.

The bike race will travel through Elvaston, Borrowash, West Hallam, and Heanor in Derbyshire for the first time in six years. After passing through Eastwood, the riders will continue through Hucknall, Ravenshead, Blidworth, Southwell, and Tuxford in Nottinghamshire. They will then cross the River Trent and head south to the finish line at Sconce and Devon Park in Newark-on-Trent.

After passing through Abthorpe, Wappenham, Helmdon, Culworth, Byfield, and Hellidon, the route will circle around Northampton by traveling through Watford, West Haddon, Naseby, Kelmarsh, and Brixworth before reaching the finish line in Sywell and Ecton around 2.30pm.
