Timo Werner managed to score his inaugural goal for Tottenham Hotspur, which then initiated a remarkable comeback victory of 3-1 over Crystal Palace at their home ground. The win breathed new life into Tottenham's aspirations of finishing among the top four teams in the Premier League on Saturday.

The ex-Chelsea striker, who is currently on loan from RB Leipzig, scored a goal that was close to the net in the 77th minute. This helped to equalize the game after a fantastic free kick from Eberechi Eze had placed Crystal Palace in the lead.

Werner has not scored a goal in English soccer for the past two years. He was loaned to Tottenham to regain some of his former skill and confidence in scoring goals.

During the unexciting first half, Tottenham had control of the ball more than 80% of the time, but was not able to score. Although, they almost opened the scoring when they were close. Palace played defensively and did not allow many opportunities for Tottenham to score.

Werner received a quick pass from his son, giving him a clear opportunity to make a shot. However, he chose to take his time and attempt to maneuver around the goalkeeper, Sam Johnstone, before taking the shot. Johnstone was able to block the shot from the German player.

The latter part of the game started off with more energy as Son took a shot that hit the bottom of the goal post after receiving a pass from Dejan Kulusevski.

In the 59th minute, Palace managed to score first.

The referee granted a free kick near the penalty box's edge, and it was in a direct area. Eze, who had been absent with a hamstring injury for a month, came back to the initial eleven and took charge. He took a shot, and it was impossible for Guglielmo Vicario to stop the ball from entering the goal.

Tottenham was in dire need of igniting some enthusiasm and Brennan Johnson, who came in as a replacement, delivered it.

He exhibited remarkable determination as he advanced down the right side to acquire the ball and successfully avoided a feeble tackle. Then he skillfully passed the ball across the area where Werner effortlessly tapped in his first goal since his previous score for Leipzig back in October.

According to Ange Postecoglou, the manager of Tottenham, while goals can definitely give a boost to players' morale, he personally thought that the player's performance was strong and effective, particularly in terms of their aggressive running style and overall gameplay.

"He persisted in his belief. To outmaneuver a team that defends deeply, having a clear objective is crucial. Nonetheless, I was content with our strategy and Timo's goal was an excellent moment."

Romero gave a small nod of approval as he received a beautifully lofted pass from James Maddison. After realizing that they were losing, the Palace team seemed to lose motivation. Taking advantage of this, Son ran towards the goal and successfully scored his 13th goal of the season in the league.
