Today's update from BBC News in the South East region tells us that there has been an upsurge of positive coronavirus cases in the area. The authorities are urging the public to maintain the safety guidelines in order to help prevent further spread of the virus. It is important that everyone does their part to stay vigilant and make responsible choices to keep themselves and others safe. Let us all work together to overcome this pandemic.

The person who started a charity at nine years old has received a New Year Honour, making them the youngest person to ever receive this award.

Tony Hudgell, who lost both his legs, has recently received the British Empire Medal (BEM) for his contributions to putting an end to child abuse. The resident of West Malling located in the county of Kent was honored for his noble service.

He had to have both of his legs removed because of injuries caused by his biological parents, who were sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2018.

Afterwards, he became one of the founders of the Tony Hudgell Foundation and contributed to collecting over £1.7m for charitable causes during the pandemic.

Paula Hudgell, who became an OBE last year, is the adoptive mother of Tony. Recently, she and her family have been involved in a successful campaign to increase the severity of punishments for those who commit abuse against children.

According to Ms. Hudgell, Tony was filled with pride and enthusiasm upon discovering that he was to receive the award.

She expressed that it's admirable that he doesn't wish for any other child to go through what he went through.

I have immense admiration for him, and his contribution is an outstanding and valuable heritage.

It is thought that Tony has received recognition at an exceptionally young age, surpassing the previous record set by Tobias Weller who was awarded a BEM at the age of 11 for his fundraising efforts, a couple of years prior.

King Charles has bestowed upon the Archbishop of Canterbury the esteemed title of Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order (RVO).

During the ceremony held at Westminster Abbey on May 6th, Justin Welby crowned and anointed the King.

The RVO presents awards as a special present from the King. These awards are given out separately from the Prime Minister's office to individuals who have devoted their personal services to the monarch or members of the royal family.
