Tommy Robinson has been taken into custody in Canada for possible violations of immigration laws.

A video shared on the internet shows Robinson, also known as Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, getting arrested by two undercover police officers. They tell the 41-year-old that there is a pending immigration warrant against him.

After that, he is taken elsewhere.

Robinson was taken into custody shortly after delivering a speech in Calgary on Monday.

He is now free, but his passport has been confiscated, as reported on his social media account.

He said: "I thought I was free, but I'm actually not. It's all very confusing. I'm currently being held in Calgary, unable to leave the city. These restrictions are preventing me from finishing my tour of Canada and meeting with podcast guests. I'm not even allowed to go back home."

Robinson had given a talk at an event called 'A Night with Tommy Robinson', put together by far-Right media platform Rebel News and its creator Ezra Levant.

In 2012, Robinson admitted to using a passport belonging to a friend to travel to the United States. As a result, he was given a 10-month prison sentence.
