Heavy police presence in London as protests heat up and Champions League final draws closer

Today, over 2,000 police officers are working in London to oversee fan gatherings leading up to the Champions League final at Wembley, as well as various demonstrations.

Metropolitan Police officers are having a hectic day monitoring the activities of Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid fans before the scheduled 8pm game. Additionally, a demonstration led by prominent far-right figure, Tommy Robinson, is ongoing in Parliament Square.

At Whitehall, a protest against racism was organized by Stand Up To Racism. Similarly, there was also a counter-demonstration.

Robinson, also known as Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, claims that he is protesting against unequal treatment in law enforcement, while Stand Up To Racism counter-protesters state that their objective is to raise awareness against discrimination and prejudice towards individuals of different races and Islamic faith.

The Metropolitan Police have declared that they have recognized some people in the audience at Robinson's demonstration who "are known for being associated with violent chaos" in the past.

On Saturday afternoon, X provided new information stating that several individuals possess football banning orders and have connections to violent fan organizations from both London and other parts of the United Kingdom.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that some individuals participating in a smaller protest taking place in Waterloo were detained for interfering with traffic. The Youth Demand protestors were displaying their opposition to the current military attack by Israel in Gaza.

The Metropolitan Police has promised that their officers will be present throughout the night, even after the end of the biggest club competition in Europe.

Commander Louise Puddefoot, in charge of the policing operation this weekend, expressed her desire for visitors attending the amazing event in London to have a pleasant and secure time.
