Sir Tom Jones issues apology on air as he makes startling admission: 'Long time ago!'
Sir Tom Jones publicly said sorry on television as he remembered a time when he found himself taking something during a performance that had gone terribly wrong.
The singer, who is 84 years old and known for the song She's a Lady, revealed this information in a recent interview before issuing an apology.
Jones made an appearance on The One Show on BBC last Thursday, where the host Alex Jones asked: "You had to quickly exit the stage one time, and you may have accidentally taken something with you when leaving the stage?"
The musician from Wales responded, "Here's what went down... It was around Christmas time and I was performing at a club for blue-collar workers in South Wales, where coal mining was a common occupation."
There were disruptions and chaos. People were acting crazy. The organizers decided to close the curtains to stop the commotion. The raffle was supposed to happen on stage, with three hampers as the prizes for Christmas.
"I decided to investigate and found a surprise - a turkey inside. So I grabbed the turkey and placed it at the rear of the amplifier."
Alex Jones from The One Show requested the singer to disclose the confession.
He added: "Afterwards, I was unable to return to the club and I questioned, 'Why am I no longer allowed to perform there?'
"They accused me of taking a chicken, but I corrected them and said it was actually a turkey."
"Even though he left the valley, he still has a piece of it with him!" Alex joked, to which the singer responded, "I was actually in the valley when that happened! My bad, I lied to my wife and said I won."
"It's all water under the bridge now," the host explained after Jones apologized.
Singer Tom Jones confessed something during his appearance on BBC's The One Show.
During the most recent episode of The One Show, viewers were unhappy when the hosts didn't address the Jermaine Jenas controversy.
Earlier today, it was reported that Jenas has been fired after allegations of misconduct.
It is said that the network started looking into the matter internally after receiving complaints about the host of The One Show and Match of the Day.
Jenas had been employed as a sports commentator for the company and also became a part of The One Show in 2020.
A representative from the BBC has verified that the presenter has been taken off the show, stating: "We can confirm that he is no longer part of our team of presenters."
The episode of The One Show featured Tom Jones reminiscing about a moment when he 'took a turkey without permission'.
On Thursday's episode, hosts Jones and Clara Amfo, who is 40 years old, started the show. They greeted guests including David Oyelowo, will.i.am, and Jones.
During the thirty-minute episode, viewers quickly noticed that Jenas was not mentioned or acknowledged as being no longer a part of the show.
A lot of people went on social media to ask why the scandal wasn't being talked about.
