Tom Hardy stepped in to cover the salaries of numerous set builders who found themselves financially strained after the construction company involved in a new series by Guy Ritchie failed to deliver their payments before Christmas.
The Mad Max star has recently wrapped up filming for Guy Ritchie's upcoming gangster drama series called Fixer. He will be sharing the screen with Dame Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan in this project.
Around 50 independent set builders, who worked on the set during the summer, found themselves in a tough situation when they discovered that the set construction company, Helix 3D, wouldn't be paying the £250,000 in wages it owed to them.
The Times reports that the company is anticipated to go into liquidation, and its CEO has cautioned that it probably won't be able to pay employees before Christmas.
The article states that Hardy intervened and offered to cover the workers' salaries until Paramount sorted out the issue.
According to a source familiar with Tom, he suggested covering the costs, but the payment issues have already been handled by the production team and Paramount.
The publication reported that a contact at Paramount expressed that the executives were “furious” upon learning about the issue and that they would take immediate action to ensure employees receive their payments.
Chris Hudson, an official from the broadcasting union Bectu, reached out to the CEO of Helix 3D prior to the establishment of the payment plan to address the company's behavior.
In a letter reviewed by The Times, he stated, “Our members should receive fair treatment and respect, and they deserve to be paid on time for their efforts. It's completely unacceptable that they are experiencing serious financial instability, especially with the holidays approaching."

“As we approach Christmas, our members are understandably very upset, with many worrying they won't be able to afford basic needs. I hope you can see how much this is affecting their mental well-being.”
He mentioned that some challenges the company is dealing with, like selling its office spaces, shouldn't be considered a legitimate justification.
"It appears that the failure to anticipate this situation was preventable, especially considering the significant financial problems Helix was facing," he stated.
"What could have been prevented is the insufficient information and transparency provided to our members about Helix's current situation during their time of employment."
The Independent has reached out to Paramount, Hardy, and Helix 3D for their feedback.
Ritchie is collaborating with Ronan Bennett, known for his work on The Day of The Jackal and Top Boy, on a project called Fixer.
The show, available for streaming on Paramount, revolves around two opposing families running rival global businesses.
