Olympic athlete Tom Daley and rowing champion Helen Glover have been selected to carry the flag at the start of the Olympic Games this year.

The sports competitors will proudly bear the flags during the opening event of the Paris 2024 Olympics on the 26th of July.

Tom Daley is participating in his fifth Olympic Games, while Helen Glover will be attending her fourth Olympics.

The athletes are thrilled to be carrying the flag, describing it as a fulfilling dream and a great honor.

The beginning celebration will take place on the River Seine in the city of Paris.

Every country's group of representatives will journey along a six kilometer route on boats down the river.

Approximately 10,500 athletes will participate in the ceremony, with each country creating unique attire for their athletes to wear.

For the first time in the history of the summer Olympics, the opening ceremony will not be held in a stadium.

This Olympics will mark the fifth time Tom Daley competes as a diver for Great Britain since he returned to the sport three years ago.

At the young age of 14, he competed in the Olympics in Beijing in 2008.

He expressed that this Olympics is all about savoring the experience, fully immersing oneself in every moment, and cherishing every aspect as much as possible. Being the flagbearer is the cherry on top.

Olympic rower Helen Glover is making her fourth appearance at the Olympics, despite retiring twice before, once after the Rio Games and once after the Tokyo Games.

"I never imagined that I would become an Olympian. It feels surreal to be a part of history as the flagbearer, and I am still trying to fully grasp the magnitude of it," she expressed.

Everyone I have shared this news with has shed tears, and I couldn't help but cry when I was informed as well. This just goes to demonstrate what a privilege and how significant this honor truly is.
