There are reports that Margot Robbie is expecting her first child.
The 34-year-old actress known for her role in Barbie and her husband, also an actor and film producer, are anticipating the arrival of their first child. Sources confirmed the news to People magazine. The couple, who tied the knot in 2016, have not publicly commented on the pregnancy.
The Independent has contacted the couple's representatives for a response.
Robbie and Ackerly's first encounter happened in 2013 during the filming of Suite Francaise, a romantic drama set during World War II, in Belgium. Robbie was just starting to gain recognition as an actor, while Ackerly was working as the assistant director on the film.
A year after that, they started a production company called LuckyChap. This company has made big movies like Birds of Prey and Barbie, both starring Robbie.
The couple keeps their personal lives out of the spotlight. They never publicly shared their engagement and instead chose to marry in a private ceremony in Byron Bay, Australia.
The actor from The Suicide Squad revealed to Vogue in May 2016 that she didn't expect to fall for "the most attractive man in London."
"I used to be a committed bachelorette. The thought of being in a relationship made me feel nauseous," she mentioned. "But then, unexpectedly, my feelings changed. We had been friends for such a long time. I had secretly been in love with him all along."
Robbie kept thinking: “I never thought he would feel the same way about me. I didn't want to make things awkward by confessing my feelings for him. But then it happened, and I realized that we were meant to be together. It just felt right, like nothing ever had before.”
Robbie has expressed her frustration in the past about frequently being questioned during interviews about when she plans to start a family.
"It infuriated me; who does this elderly man think he is to control my decisions about being a mother or my own body?" she expressed to Radio Times in 2019.
Unluckily, it's a discussion that we're still engaging in.
"I'm really frustrated with the expectations society puts on us," she said. "People think that just because you're married, you automatically have to have a baby. But I'm not going to let others dictate my choices."
Lately, the couple shared details about their relationship during a chat with The Times. When questioned about arguments at home, Acklerley revealed that their usual disagreement revolves around chocolate cookies and which ones, Tim Tams or Penguins, are superior.
He mentioned that he would like to see a stronger competition between Australia and the UK in sports. He feels like he is considered an Australian, while Margot is seen as a British honorary member.
They also shared that when they are not working, they are together all day, every day.
"It flows smoothly," Ackerley stated. "There's no need to switch on or off. Everything has merged seamlessly into one."
