The presenter, who has been in charge of the BBC Radio 2 breakfast program since 2019, revealed that she is dealing with TMJ, which is short for temporomandibular joint disorder.

In a post on Instagram, she shared, "I suffer from TMJ and often wake up with terrible headaches caused by tension and jaw clenching."

At the beginning of this month, she revealed that she would be leaving her radio show after six years, and Scott Mills will be taking her place.

Signs of the condition commonly referred to as Temporomandibular Disorder (TMD) include discomfort in the jaw, around the ears, and in the temples. Additionally, sufferers may experience headaches in the temple area and have trouble fully opening their mouths, as noted on the NHS website.

Ball posted a picture showing her face before and after the treatment, expressing her deep gratitude to the clinic that assisted her.

Numerous comments below expressed that others could relate to her suffering.

The 54-year-old disclosed during her show earlier this month that she believed it was the right moment for her to "take a break from the early mornings and prioritize her family." This comes after she had already taken a hiatus over the summer due to her mother's passing.

She assumed the presenting role from Chris Evans in 2019 and will host her show for the last time on December 20th.

Zoe Ball: "It's time to say goodbye to waking up early"

Mills, who is currently the host of Radio 2's afternoon show during the week, will take over the role starting in early January.

Ball was named the BBC's top-earning female presenter on air for the 2023/24 period, earning a salary ranging from £950,000 to £954,999. She ranked second overall, following Gary Lineker, who was the outgoing host of Match of the Day.

Nonetheless, there are many more stars who aren't included in the list. Some of them likely earn more than Ball and Lineker, but their names aren’t mentioned because the BBC isn’t required to reveal the salaries of those paid through production companies.

In 1998, Ball made history as the first woman to host the Radio 1 breakfast show. Prior to that, she co-hosted the Saturday morning kids' TV show Live & Kicking with Jamie Theakston.
