When Tina Turner went on tour with the Rolling Stones for the very first time in 1966, she wasn't familiar with the band. She thought of them as simply white gentlemen and merely recognized Mick, who she noticed would always stand in the wings watching them perform. At first, Mick was a bit hesitant with Tina but gradually, they both began to have a good time. Tina attempted to teach Mick some new dance moves as he would constantly remain still up on the stage with his tambourine. They would test out new fun dance moves backstage such as the Pony or some groovy hip movements and they would just end up busting out with laughter.

Tina Turner's Journey in Pictures If there's one person who's earned the right to tell her story, it's Tina Turner. The music icon's life in pictures is a fascinating narrative of triumph over adversity, perseverance through hardship, and a refusal to give up. Born Anna Mae Bullock in rural Tennessee, Turner's early life was marked by poverty, abuse, and neglect. But even as a young girl, she found solace in music, singing in church choirs and later performing in small local bands. It wasn't until she met and began performing with musician and future husband Ike Turner that Tina's star began to rise. But as their fame increased, so did the abuse she suffered at Ike's hands. But instead of giving up or accepting her fate, Tina found the strength to leave and start over on her own. With hits like "What's Love Got to Do with It" and "Simply the Best", she's become one of the most successful female artists of all time, inspiring generations of fans along the way.
Tina had been thinking about ditching Ike for quite some time before the critical event that occurred on July 1, 1976, as per her. They had recently departed from the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport in a fancy limousine.
According to her, Ike was in a bad mood that day and hit her with the back of his hand. She scolded him with her finger and Ike responded by beating her all the way from the airport to the hotel. Tina says that Ike didn't just use his hands, but also other things to hurt her. By the time they reached the hotel, the left side of her face was swollen. Despite all this, Tina remained strong and didn't shed a tear. Instead, she laughed because she knew it was time to leave and put an end to this abuse.
Tina went to her suite upstairs and shared her experience about massaging and asking her partner if he wanted any food. However, her partner made a mistake of dozing off which led Tina to leave the place. She only had 36 cents in her pocket and a Mobil credit card, but a friend helped her buy a plane ticket to L.A. Tina felt proud, strong, and likened herself to Martin Luther King.

She hid out in Hollywood with a group of pals, but after 14 days, she claims that Ike located her. "I peered through the window and saw a Rolls-Royce and Ike in his boots, accompanied by a massive group of around 500 people. I mustered up the nerve to declare, 'There's no way I'm going back there.'" (Ike Turner has refused to grant an interview and has since retired from the music industry. He was taken into custody earlier this year for supposedly shooting a Los Angeles newspaper deliveryman in the leg.)
Once she hired a legal representative and started divorce proceedings, she claims that her residence was targeted with gunfire, a vehicle belonging to one of her female friends was set ablaze, and threats were made. She clarifies that she's uncertain whether Ike was the perpetrator, and she doesn't believe that he would have physically harmed her, but he clearly aimed to intimidate her and make her feel uneasy.
According to Tina, in 1978, the final agreement following the divorce granted him everything. She clarifies that her personal well-being was of greater value to her. He received all the material possessions and assets acquired throughout their union, including the properties, music albums, and royalties.

However, she admits that she was like a shadow, as it was her husband Ike who took care of everything from the sound to band, hiring people, managing and money. Tina admits that Ike was quite loving and helped a lot of people in trouble, but everything came at a price. You owed him your life and he didn't do things for free. One ex-employee recalled being broke and coming back from visiting Ike to find $1,000 in his coat pocket.
Tina and Ike's passion for each other had dwindled over the course of seven years, but they still had a strong connection when performing on stage. However, Ike had started a relationship with one of his backup singers, and both he and Tina had a fascination with astrology and psychic phenomena. Tina's life drastically changed when she delved into Buddhism. In modern times, Tina is residing by herself in a roomy abode situated in Los Angeles. She gets together with her sons, who are all grown up now, and a small group of intimate acquaintances (one of whom is Ann-Margret). Tina has scheduled meetings with a psychic named Carol Dryer on a regular basis, who she believes has provided spiritual guidance throughout her journey of self-discovery. This has caused Tina to reminisce about her initial encounter with a psychic back in the 1960s. The psychic relayed to her that she would become one of the most prominent people in the entertainment industry, and that one of her partners will leave her behind unexpectedly, although Tina will persevere and carry on.
