Ticketmaster expands in Africa with Quicket acquisition

Ticketmaster

Ticketmaster is purchasing Quicket, a prominent company in Africa that sells tickets for events and festivals, to help the expanding live events industry in the region.

In 2022, Ticketmaster entered the market in South Africa and now works with some of the biggest festivals, sports events, music concerts, theaters, and venues in the country. By teaming up with Quicket, they can provide event solutions for a wide range of sizes, from intimate club shows to massive festivals and stadiums.

Founded in 2011, Quicket has developed a ticketing system to cater to both local and larger African markets.

As Quicket continues to grow its presence in Nigeria, Uganda, Kenya, Zambia, and Botswana, this acquisition will provide more opportunities for African venues, artists, and promoters to take advantage of the company's knowledge of the region and Ticketmaster's worldwide presence and services. Additionally, it will facilitate the introduction of digital innovations, such as secure encrypted mobile tickets, throughout Africa.

Teaming up with Quicket will boost our goal of showcasing Africa's vibrant live events on a global stage.

Mark Yovich, the president of Ticketmaster, believes that Africa has some of the most dedicated fans in the world. He is excited to connect these fans with the events they love in a safe and easy way. Ticketmaster is committed to providing the best technology for promoters, venues, and artists. By partnering with Quicket, they hope to showcase Africa's vibrant live events on a global scale. Yovich believes that this collaboration will bring about a new era of growth for the entertainment industry in Africa.

James Tagg, who is in charge at Quicket, mentioned that African culture has a strong love for live entertainment. For more than a decade, we have helped event organizers all over Africa create amazing experiences with our ticketing system. Teaming up with Ticketmaster is a significant step in bridging the gap for African artists to reach a worldwide audience and making the experience better for fans and promoters in the region.

Managed by CEO James Tagg, Quicket will remain an independent business entity based in Cape Town.
