Forecasters have put out alerts for thunderstorms and strong rain on Sunday, affecting a large area of England and some parts of eastern Wales.

The Met Office is warning that there is a low possibility of flooding and potential interruptions in certain regions.

The bright yellow alert reminding people to "stay alert" will start at 04:00 BST, impacting a wide area of southern England, the Midlands, and the northern regions.

Weather experts are saying there will be thunderstorms and lots of rain in the southern part of England on Sunday morning, and it will spread towards the north as the day goes on.

In the UK, a region in the middle of the country, from the Isle of Wight to Newcastle upon Tyne, is under the alert.

In Wales, there is a warning for Monmouthshire, Newport, Torfaen, and Wrexham in the eastern part of the country.

The Met Office warned that flooding could happen and also mentioned that there may be lots of lightning and hail in parts of southern and central England.

This Sunday, the BBC Weather predicts that the UK will experience hot and sticky air coming in from the southeast.

This will also result in some heavy rainstorms, which will travel northward over the central part of England and eastern Wales.

These thunderstorms may not be widespread, but in the areas where they happen, there may be heavy rainfall, strong winds, and lightning.

Finding the exact locations of these showers can be challenging, but it's important to keep checking the newest forecast as it could be updated, according to BBC weather.

As the air becomes warmer and more humid, it is expected that temperatures in various regions will reach the low to mid-20s Celsius. In some areas of southeast England, temperatures could even reach as high as 27C.
