M6: Lorry falls 60 metres off Thelwall Viaduct near Warrington
A heavy goods vehicle (HGV) plunged approximately 60 meters down onto an embankment close to Thelwall Viaduct.
A truck has plunged 60 meters from a bridge on the M6 and has ended up flipped over on the slope beneath.
The event occurred around 6:50 PM BST, between junctions 20 and 21 at the Thelwall Viaduct close to Warrington in Cheshire, according to Cheshire Police.
The authorities stated that the driver of the vehicle is not thought to have sustained any injuries that could threaten their life.
Authorities announced that three lanes will likely stay closed on the northbound side throughout the night because of significant damage to the barrier.
The Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service reported that rescuers used special tools to lower themselves and get to the driver.
Emergency teams sprayed water on the heavy goods vehicle to keep it cool and are using barriers to contain a leak of approximately 1,000 liters of bio-diesel from the fuel tanks.
According to the police, one lane will stay open, but the speed limit will be lowered.
Drivers are encouraged to steer clear of the area and seek a different path while this is happening.
