M6: Lorry falls 60 metres off Thelwall Viaduct near Warrington
A large goods vehicle plunged about 60 meters down an embankment close to Thelwall Viaduct.
A truck has plummeted 60 meters off a bridge on the M6 and ended up flipped over on the bank beneath.
The event took place around 18:50 BST at the Thelwall Viaduct, located near Warrington, Cheshire, specifically between junctions 20 and 21, according to Cheshire Police.
According to the authorities, the driver of the car is not thought to have sustained any serious injuries.
Authorities have indicated that three lanes on the northbound side of the roadway will likely stay closed overnight due to significant damage to the barrier.
The Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service reported that firefighters employed rescue tools to descend and reach the driver.
Teams have sprayed water to cool down the heavy goods vehicle (HGV) and are utilizing barriers to manage a leak of approximately 1,000 liters of biodiesel from the fuel tanks.
Authorities have indicated that one lane will stay accessible, albeit with a lowered speed limit.
Drivers are encouraged to steer clear of the area and consider taking a different path for the time being.
