After the successful launch of the first season in 2022 featuring Sheridan Smith and Kelvin Fletcher, Channel 5 executives wasted no time in renewing the drama series The Teacher. Now, the long-awaited show is ready to premiere this week.

Series two features a completely new cast that includes performers like Kara Tointon, Will Mellor, and Emmett J Scanlan. The episodes were filmed earlier this year, and fans are eagerly anticipating the chance to see all four episodes, especially with Kara stepping into the lead role previously played by Sheridan.

What Is A Teacher?

The Teacher is a television drama that is broadcast on Channel 5. The first season premiered in January 2022, and the second season will debut on Monday, September 9th.

In the first season, actress Sheridan Smith portrayed a teacher named Jenna Garvey, who found herself accused of engaging in a sexual relationship with one of her 15-year-old students after a night of heavy drinking.

In the second season, Kara Tointon's character Dani will embark on a spontaneous romance with her coworker, played by Will Mellor. However, this relationship quickly spirals into chaos and takes a dark turn.

The summary for Season 2 reveals: "The Teacher II continues the journey of Dani, a passionate educator who truly enjoys her profession. She serves as a mentor and an inspiration to her pupils. However, she grapples with a marriage that isn't fulfilling, lacking genuine closeness and shared longing."

This prompts her to jump into a spontaneous relationship with a coworker, which initially fulfills her desires but quickly becomes chaotic. When a student disappears during a school outing, Dani feels justifiably guilty for losing focus too easily.

As events take a dark turn, she feels compelled to deceive, leading her life to unravel rapidly. She puts everything on the line to fix the mistakes for which she shares some blame.

What Time Is It On TV?

The second season of The Teacher kicks off at 9 PM on Monday, September 9th, with new episodes released on Tuesday, September 10th, Wednesday, September 11th, and Thursday, September 12th.

Which Channel Airs It?

Viewers can catch the series on Channel 5.

"Meet The Cast: Who's In It?"

Kara Tointon, who previously starred in EastEnders, takes on the main character of art teacher Dani. Kara explains, "Dani has been in her marriage since she was young; it dates back to her university days."

I found this section intriguing since I’ve never portrayed a character that could quickly rub people the wrong way. It’s not that she has a bad personality—she's not malevolent—but her decisions certainly spark some doubt.

In the series, Will Mellor, known for his role in Mr. Bates vs The Post Office, portrays Jimmy, a fellow teacher. Meanwhile, Emmett J Scanlan, recognized for his performance in Fool Me Once, takes on the character of Tim, who is Dani's husband.

Similar to the initial series, the follow-up will consist of four episodes.
