The story set in a small town follows Beth (Annabel Scholey), whose life is thrown into chaos when her husband Tom (Jack Farthing) is taken into custody during his surprise birthday celebration, accused of killing his past assistant. Is he guilty or is it just a mix-up?
Beth's situation continues to deteriorate as old investigations are revisited, and all signs point back to Tom. Her life becomes the subject of sensational news stories. Though their marriage appeared perfect and Tom was cherished in the community as the local doctor, Beth starts to wonder if she truly understood her husband all along.
When the show first debuted on Paramount Plus, Scholey spoke exclusively with RadioTimes.com about her main role, describing Beth as "amazing." She shared, "She experiences every emotion imaginable. It was quite a challenge for me physically, given the character's sexual aspects."
I felt pretty scared at the thought of tackling all of that. I realized, "I guess I should go for it since it's clear this is something I need to address – therapy."
