The new show on Netflix called The Perfect Couple has a darker storyline, but it starts off with a fun dance sequence featuring actors like Nicole Kidman, Liev Schreiber, and Dakota Fanning, set to Meghan Trainor's song "Criminals."

The idea for the project came from director Susanne Bier, but Variety found out that the majority of the actors were strongly against it. They even formed a group chat on WhatsApp, which Schreiber jokingly referred to as a "mutiny."

The TV series follows a rich family who encounter unexpected obstacles during their luxurious Nantucket wedding on the beach when a dead body is discovered, revealing hidden secrets within the family.

Kidman revealed in an interview that she was initially against the idea of her character Greer participating in the opening dance, as she believed Greer would be more of a spectator.

However, she ultimately expressed contentment with the situation. "I performed as Greer. I believe it was fantastic and I am pleased that everyone participated. Because there is a sense of happiness in it."

Schreiber, who portrays Kidman's on-screen spouse, was fully committed. "I wasn't included in that group text. The entire cast rebelled against the idea except for me, I was already in my trailer rehearsing the dance routine."

He exclaimed, "I love to dance and I was a little bit upset when I found out that I wasn't featured more in the performance because I believed I did a great job."

Bier mentioned that she believed viewers needed some cheering up during these difficult times. She expressed her desire to create something lively and enjoyable, showcasing the characters having a great time.

The Perfect Couple is currently available for viewing on Netflix.
