Employees working at a vacation spot located in Argyll and Bute were informed that they will be losing their jobs close to Christmas time.

On Monday, Drimsynie Holiday Park informed around 14 employees that their job positions were under threat, and a few have already received letters about their dismissal.

The park is changing its schedule, which means it will shut down during winter.

Argyll Holidays was founded back in 1967, but Cove UK recently came into the picture and took over in 2021.

A worker who was informed about their redundancy by BBC Scotland News recently was taken aback.

According to them, they were informed that their employment was in danger on December 1st - two days after the company's festive gathering.

According to them, people at the park have a sense that this could be just the beginning of the job cuts.

People have been discussing this matter since October. It seems as though they have been purposely delaying it to prevent employees from leaving before the holiday rush.

According to the source, certain employees who have worked for less than two years have been affected and are thus ineligible for any redundancy benefits.

They expressed worries about workers who are provided with lodging by their employer.

The park will be closed during the months of January to March instead of being open all year round as previously stated.

At Drimsynie Holiday Park, a representative mentioned that they have started a process of seeking advice and feedback from their park and held conversations with their workforce regarding the potential outcomes of upcoming changes.

The temporary job roles at Drimsynie are available to both former and current team members. However, we understand that each person has the freedom to decide if they are interested in the position.

One BBC employee has already received a letter indicating that their employment will be terminated due to redundancy.

The representative couldn't verify the exact amount of people out of the 14 who were sent these correspondences.

The representative mentioned that the park would only be open during certain seasons because they are facing significant inflationary challenges. These include increased expenses in energy, personnel, and upkeep. Furthermore, customers are also being more cautious with their spending. As a result, the park is making changes to address these challenges.

Argyll Holidays manages a total of eight holiday parks located in Argyll and Bute, which include Hunter's Quay Holiday Park situated in Dunoon and Loch Lomond Holiday Park in Arrochar. In addition to this, Cove UK, the parent company, owns five more caravan parks throughout the United Kingdom.

It has been said that some other vacation spots from the same group have also experienced job cutbacks due to the shift in their seasonal schedule.

Argyll Holidays is a big business in Argyll and Bute and employs a lot of people.
