Transport for London (TfL) is currently facing a cyber security breach, but reassures customers that their personal information is not believed to be in jeopardy.

It has collaborated with government agencies that specialize in cyber security.

The company that runs the transportation system in London announced on September 2nd that they were dealing with a "continuing cyber security problem".

Shashi Verma, who is in charge of technology at TfL, mentioned: "We have implemented several changes to our internal systems to address a current cyber security issue. Keeping our systems and customer information secure is a top priority for us, and we will be monitoring the situation closely during and after the incident."

Even though we still have more investigation to do, so far, there is no proof that any customer information has been accessed. This situation has not affected TfL services and we are collaborating with the National Crime Agency and the National Cyber Security Centre to address the issue.

The transportation system in London is very important to the UK and any kind of attack could result in serious economic harm. Additionally, many people have accounts with TfL, which stores their personal information.

Spencer Starkey, the top executive for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa at the security software company SonicWall, explained that critical national infrastructure includes the essential systems, assets, and networks needed for a country to operate smoothly. Protecting this infrastructure is crucial to ensuring stability and preventing disasters that could result from cyber attacks or other threats.

Securing critical national infrastructure against cyber threats is a continuous and thorough process. The consequences of an attack on CNI can be extremely severe, so it is crucial to dedicate significant resources to safeguarding them.

"In a world where there is a lot of disagreement, people are constantly moving threats from one place to another, and governments are always under attack from cyber threats. These attacks can make a country worried about its own security and important infrastructure, as well as the safety of confidential information," Starkey mentioned.

He mentioned that it is important to safeguard government networks, establish communication and collaboration with private businesses, and implement harsh penalties to prevent attackers.
