Women's Tennis Tops Chestnut Hill in Season Opener
Emmitsburg, Maryland (September 6, 2024)--The women's tennis team at Mount St. Mary's started off the 2024-25 season strong with a 6-1 win against Chestnut Hill on Friday at the Rooney Tennis Courts located on campus.
The Mount won two doubles matches to earn the doubles point. Newcomer Emma Perkins partnered with Margherita Trolese for a 6-4 victory in the first doubles match, while rookies Venus Tang and Amari O'Brien joined forces for a 6-3 win in the second doubles match.
During the singles matches, Trolese defeated Alison Isaac with a score of 1-6, 6-1, 10-8 at the top position. Perkins also won their match at No. 2 with a score of 6-4, 6-3. Tang and O'Brien secured wins at No. 3 and No. 4 respectively. Valentine Mudry finished off the Mount's scoring with a win at No. 6 singles.
The Mountaineers will be competing at the Bedford Cup from September 13-15.
Mount St. Mary's beat Chestnut Hill with a score of 6-1. In the doubles matches, Emma Perkins and Margherita Trolese from Mount St. Mary's defeated Romi Meirovich and Lilian Bandel from Chestnut Hill with a score of 6-4. Venus Tang and Amari O'Brien from Mount St. Mary's also won their match against Claudia Rasilia and Annabel Snow from Chestnut Hill with a score of 6-3. However, Alison Isaac and Elena Arenas Guisasola from Chestnut Hill managed to win their match against Ryan McCarthy and Valentine Mudry from Mount St. Mary's.
Singles matches results from the tennis tournament are as follows: Trolese from MSM defeated Isaac from CH with a score of 1-6, 6-1, 10-8. Perkins from MSM won against Bandel from CH with a score of 6-4, 6-3. Tang from MSM beat Guisasola from CH with a score of 6-3, 6-1. O'Brien from MSM defeated Meirovich from CH with a score of 6-4, 6-3. Snow from CH won against McCarthy from MSM with a score of 6-2, 4-6, 10-8. Mudry from MSM defeated Rasilia from CH with a score of 7-5, 6-3.
