On Thursday, she announced that a portion of the £36,000 raised in a fundraiser will be used to help the mountain rescue teams and cover family travel costs.

The Spanish authorities are looking for Jay in new areas of the national park where his phone was last tracked. Mrs Duncan expressed gratitude for the support, messages, and well wishes on the GoFundMe page.

"It's hard to fully understand the situation we're in at the moment, but we remain optimistic that we will locate Jay and reunite safely."

Right now, we are collaborating with GoFundMe to access a portion of the money that is securely being held.

I wanted to let you know that this money will help the mountain rescue teams who are working hard to find Jay.

Moreover, as we will be staying in Tenerife for a longer period of time, we will be using the money to pay for our lodging and meals.

I have amazing friends and family supporting me, but I miss my loved ones who are far away. We plan to use some of the money raised to bring them to Tenerife so we can be there for each other during this difficult period.

Once more, we want to express our gratitude for all your generous donations and encouragement. Your support means everything to us.

A group looking for Jay Slater near where he was last seen.

Jay, a novice bricklayer from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, went to the NRG music festival on the island with two buddies before he went missing. He was last in contact on Monday of the previous week.

He disappeared after trying to make his way back to his place of stay when he missed the bus.

The distance from where Jay was last seen, Rural de Teno Park in the northern part of the island, to his place of stay would have required approximately 11 hours of walking.

The Spanish police, known as the Guardia Civil, have organized a large-scale search for the missing teenager on the island. They are using helicopters, drones, and search dogs to comb through the mountainous areas, but so far they have been unsuccessful in locating the teen.

The fundraising page set up by Lucy Law to help bring Jay Slater home had amassed £36,000 in donations by Thursday morning.

A representative from GoFundMe stated that they are communicating with Debbie, the mother of Jay Slater, and collaborating with her to provide updates on how the donations will be utilized in the search efforts.

Currently, the funds are being held by GoFundMe while we navigate the next stages.

Ms Law recounted that Jay phoned her in a panicked state early on Monday morning, claiming he was disoriented in the mountains and urgently needed help as his phone battery was nearly dead.

Jay was spotted wearing a white shirt, shorts, and sneakers, while also carrying a black bag.
