After almost two years of traveling through five continents, Taylor Swift's Eras Tour is finally making its way to Canada. The first of six shows in Toronto kicks off on Thursday, with the tour concluding in Vancouver with three performances in December. When the Eras Tour comes to a city, it usually brings a boost to the local economy; attendees splurge on merchandise, accommodations, dining, and, naturally, tickets. These tickets also become popular items at auctions, with individuals raising significant amounts for charitable organizations, sometimes totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars.
For some, the sight of countless Swifties flooding downtown Toronto might feel more like a “nightmare in disguise.” Public transportation services, such as GO Transit and the TTC, claim they are prepared for the influx, but the sheer volume of people will likely complicate travel around the city. Even couples looking to set their wedding dates have been advised to avoid scheduling them during Swift's visit.
Josh O’Kane is here to explain how companies are joining in on the excitement and how you can maximize your experience during the Eras Tour weekends, regardless of whether you're a fan of Taylor Swift.
The Globe has put together Taylor Swift playlists for every kind of fan. Whether you’re in the mood to jam to her top hits, reminiscing as an elder millennial who has been a fan since high school, looking for tunes to help your little ones drift off to sleep, or wanting tracks that give you confidence on your way to the stadium, there’s something for you. They’ve even included some clever covers to win over those who aren’t fans yet, plus timeless, emotional ballads that are bound to bring on the tears.
