TORONTO — How enormous is the buzz surrounding Taylor Swift? Her upcoming visit to Toronto, starting this Thursday, appears to be transforming the city in real-time. Officials have even renamed Blue Jays Way to Taylor Swift Way while she's in town. Nearby streets are being closed, and public transit services are being ramped up.
Ticket prices were inconsistent right from the start of sales, and they keep changing in the resale market, making it tricky to measure the excitement around the pop star. However, there are a few statistics that can help us understand the intensity of the buzz.
Here’s a numerical breakdown of the Eras Tour’s visit to Toronto:
There will be six nights of concerts spread over a two-week period. Swift is set to perform from November 14 to 16 and again from November 21 to 23.
The concert showcases ten distinct phases of Swift's career, each representing one of her albums. However, the "Folklore/Evermore" phase combines two albums into one segment.
Each concert at the Rogers Centre in downtown Toronto is anticipated to attract around fifty thousand attendees.
A Taylor Swift T-shirt will set you back sixty dollars. As for hoodies and crewneck sweatshirts, they range from ninety to one hundred fifteen dollars. If you're interested in accessories like water bottles and tote bags, expect to pay around thirty dollars each.
On the night before the concert, the least expensive ticket available on the resale site StubHub for Swift’s first performance in Toronto was priced at $2,357. This ticket was for a single seat but came with a blocked view. Prices were changing frequently, with some top seats going for over $10,000.
As of Wednesday, the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre has received one hundred eighty-four reports of scams involving Swift tickets. The majority of these reports are from individuals who suffered financial losses.
Destination Toronto, a tourism organization, estimates that the concerts will generate approximately $282 million in economic activity for the city.
FIVE MILLION beads will be showcased at Taylgate '24, a fan gathering related to Swift happening at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. The craft store Michaels is sponsoring the beads for this event.
THREE GO train routes will have increased service on concert evenings. Metrolinx has announced that there will be additional trains on the Lakeshore East and West lines both prior to and following concerts. Meanwhile, the Milton line will see extra trains operating after the events. The regional transit authority also plans to delay the final train of the night for up to an hour to align with concert timings on the Kitchener, Barrie, and Stouffville lines, although there will be no added service on those routes.
There are thirteen spots in Destination Toronto's Swiftie scavenger hunt designed to inspire concert attendees to discover the city.
