Taylor Swift: Travis Kelce's dad says he'll spend $10 on 35th birthday present
Travis Kelce's father shared that he won't be spending a lot on a birthday gift for Taylor Swift. He believes that giving a thoughtful personal gift for $10 (£8) is more meaningful than trying to wow her with something pricey.
The American pop singer, who celebrated her 35th birthday on Friday, has been in a relationship with NFL player Travis since last summer.
His father, Ed Kelce, remarked, "You can't impress Taylor Swift with a present that’s worth, say, $100,000 (£80,000)."
"You need to find something that really touches her heart without breaking the bank," he went on. "Once you do, she'll be completely smitten. It's all about finding that item that stirs her feelings."
In a conversation on the Baskin and Phelps podcast, Ed mentioned that "the money doesn't really matter" when it comes to purchasing a gift for the singer. He explained that selecting a present for her feels a lot like choosing one for his two sons. "They have everything they could possibly want," he added.
Instead, he clarified: "You need to see beyond the surface. You have to explore deeper and create something unique."
Travis Kelce is a member of the Kansas City Chiefs, and his brother Jason Kelce used to play for the Philadelphia Eagles before retiring.
This past weekend, Swift wrapped up her Eras world tour, a remarkable journey that included 152 shows over the course of 21 months. The tour is reported to have generated over $2 billion (£1.58 billion) in ticket revenue.
The artist has referred to their record-setting tour as "the most amazing period of my life to date."
During the concluding performance on Sunday in Vancouver, Canada, the audience started to sing Happy Birthday to the vocalist.
Her birthday fell a day after Swift achieved a groundbreaking milestone by winning the highest number of Billboard Music Awards.
"In her pre-recorded acceptance speech, Swift expressed her gratitude, saying, 'This feels like the best early birthday gift I could have received. Thank you so much! I really love it; it’s just what I was hoping for.'"
At Thursday's event, Swift won 10 awards, including the titles of Best Artist and Best Billboard 200 Album for her work, The Tortured Poets Department.
With this latest win, Swift has now secured a total of 49 Billboard Awards, making her the artist with the most awards in history, surpassing Drake’s count of 41.
This year, she also achieved victories in categories like best female artist, best Hot 100 artist, and best Hot 100 songwriter. Swift expressed that she views these awards as significant because they are based on fan votes and chart performance.
"You are the ones who appreciate our albums and join us at our shows," she stated.
I want to express my gratitude for everything that has taken place with the Eras Tour and The Tortured Poets Department. Thank you!
It means everything to me that you all have supported the things I've created and shown such genuine interest in my music.
The award ceremony also celebrated British artists Dua Lipa, Coldplay, and Charli XCX, who took home the honors for best dance/electronic artist and album for her work "Brat."
