‘Sparks Fly’ as Edinburgh welcomes Taylor Swift with civic gift

Taylor Swift

The city of Edinburgh presented Taylor Swift with a civic gift basket.

This weekend, Taylor Swift will be performing at Scottish Gas Murrayfield and will be given a gift on behalf of the city as a form of recognition.

Edinburgh is welcoming the arrival of a worldwide famous pop sensation by putting together a selection of cultural items in a gift basket that highlights the finest products of both the city and Scotland as a whole.

The blog post will come with a unique guitar strap made by expert tailors Kinloch Anderson, featuring the Edinburgh 900 Tartan design. There'll also be some Scotch whisky courtesy of the Scotch Malt Whisky Society, and a custom itinerary for exploring the city from the Forever Edinburgh destination marketing team, who work for the council.

The expectation is for the musician to wear one of the guitar straps while playing live shows and autograph another one. Later, the signed strap will be sold at an auction and all the money raised will be given to the One City Trust. This organization works towards reducing unfairness and the isolation of certain social groups in Edinburgh.

There are only two guitar straps in existence that are considered exclusive. These guitar straps have a special inscription that says "Fàilte chridheil gu Dùn Èideann" which translates to "A heartfelt welcome to Edinburgh."

Robert Aldridge, the Lord Provost of the City of Edinburgh, expressed:

As a representative of Edinburgh and its people, I am thrilled to extend a warm welcome to Taylor Swift as she arrives in Scotland and prepares for her upcoming performances in Edinburgh. These shows promise to be absolutely incredible, drawing in huge crowds of dedicated fans and driving millions of pounds into our local economy. It's truly an exciting time for our city.

Despite being familiar with exceptional global events and cultural activities, Edinburgh has gained a significant worldwide reputation as the leading pop superstar has selected our city to launch her UK tour.

I want to express my gratitude towards Kinloch Anderson for their kind and skillful efforts in creating the Edinburgh 900 tartan, from which various items were made for this public present. Additionally, I want to extend my appreciation to all the other regional and national businesses that played a part in assembling the gift basket. I'm confident that Taylor will remember her stay in her ancestral land and our stunning capital city for a long time to come.

John Kinloch Anderson, the head of Kinloch Anderson, made a statement:

We've constantly felt a sense of pride in saying that Edinburgh is where we belong. And now, as the city undergoes a speedy transformation, we're thrilled to have played a part in the jubilation by introducing the Edinburgh 900 Tartan.

As we prepare to greet Taylor with open arms, we are ecstatic to announce our partnership with nearby enterprises in creating an exclusively Scottish gift basket, featuring items made with this fresh design.
