Actor Tamayo Perry from the movie Pirates of the Caribbean has passed away after being attacked by a shark in Hawaii.

Perry, known for his roles in Blue Crush and Hawaii Five-0, was surfing at Malaekahana beach on the Hawaiian island of Oahu when he passed away on Sunday afternoon.

The local authorities responded to a call at 1pm about a person who had been fatally injured by a shark. They used a jetski to bring Perry's body back from the ocean.

At a press briefing, Kurt Lager, the acting head of Honolulu Ocean Safety, mentioned that Perry, a lifeguard and talented surfer, was widely adored and recognized globally, especially in the North Shore of Oahu.

Tamayo had a really contagious personality, and while people adored him, he loved everyone even more," he said. "Our thoughts are with Tamayo's family."

In the fourth installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean series, titled On Stranger Tides, Perry had a role as a pirate alongside actors Penélope Cruz and Johnny Depp. Additionally, he worked as a stunt performer on The Big Bounce, a movie based on Elmore Leonard's novel, starring Owen Wilson.

Mayor Rick Blangiardi expressed his sadness over Perry's passing, describing it as a great loss. He spoke highly of Perry, referring to him as a legendary waterman who was greatly respected. Blangiardi emphasized the importance of supporting and respecting Perry's family during this difficult time.
