Upon returning to the UK, Ella aimed to make this character more relatable rather than just another typical female serial killer portrayed in movies. In an interview with The Guardian, she expressed, "Women frequently face the expectation to be charming, attractive, and flawlessly presented, which makes it much more challenging to depict moral complexity."
