New state-of-the-art studio open at Cirencester Leisure Centre | Cotswold District Council News
Cotswold District Council, working alongside Freedom Leisure, is thrilled to report the successful upgrade of Cirencester Leisure Centre. This joint refurbishment project, costing £1.2 million and starting earlier this year, represents a significant achievement in improving the amenities and experience for the local community, solidifying the Centre's status as a leading place for health, fitness, and wellness in the area.
The updates were made based on input from the community and are part of the council's continuous dedication to enhancing local amenities. The renovations feature numerous enhancements designed to create a more contemporary and accessible space for people of all ages and abilities.
The upgrades are being financed by Cotswold District Council and stem from suggestions put forward by Freedom Leisure when the new leisure agreement was finalized in 2023.
Cllr Paul Hodgkinson, the Cabinet Member for Health, Leisure, and Parking, expressed his excitement about the finishing touches on these long-awaited upgrades. He noted, "Our community deserves top-notch facilities, and this renovation makes sure that Cirencester Leisure Centre continues to be a lively center for fitness and recreation in our area. The improved amenities will create a friendlier and more inclusive environment for all, promoting healthier, more active living for everyone."
Nick Charlton, the Partnership Manager for Freedom Leisure in the Cotswolds, shared his thoughts on the upgraded facilities at Cirencester Leisure Centre, stating, "The enhancements made to the centre demonstrate a major commitment to the health and wellness of our community. Featuring cutting-edge equipment and better-designed spaces, we are excited to provide a venue where everyone can unite to boost their physical fitness, mental well-being, and overall quality of life."
"Whether it's by swimming, attending group fitness sessions, or just spending quality time with friends and family, we are dedicated to promoting a healthy and active way of life for people of all ages and fitness levels. We invite everyone to come and witness the positive changes we've achieved in collaboration with Cotswolds District Council."
The last aspect of these enhancements involves the addition of new water play elements for younger swimmers near the pool. These will be set up later this year.
The upgrades at Cirencester Leisure Centre are part of Cotswold District Council's larger plan to enhance community facilities and provide excellent services for local residents. The council is dedicated to promoting the well-being of the community and backing efforts that encourage both physical and mental health.
The brand new cycling studio and supported workout area were made available to the public during the Leisure Centre's open weekend on September 28 and 29.
