Union Members of British Railway Accept Pay Rise Offer at Network Rail

Strike action

On Monday, the RMT union reported that a large number of train workers had agreed to the enhanced salary proposal.

The Rail, Maritime and Transport Union (RMT) has received a major approval as their offer to increase pay was accepted by a vast number of signal workers and maintenance staff.

The RMT, a union for railway workers, declared today that its 20,000 strong members agreed to a better offer regarding payment, employment and terms with a ratio of three to one. This news was announced in a statement released by the union.

The RMT stated that the proposal would increase salaries by 14.4% for the least paid positions, up to a 9.2% increase for the top-paid roles.

The deal also entails a rise in retroactive pay, reduced costs for train commutes, and the extension of the no-requirement for job cuts accord until January 2025.

Nonetheless, this particular statement pertains exclusively to Network Rail members. The union confirmed that disagreements with 14 train operators and associated strike schedules continue to persist.

In the previous month, the members of the union declined the monetary proposal presented by 14 train operators and resolved to execute a four-day strike commencing on March 16, 18, 30, and April 1.
