Strictly Come Dancing singer discusses 'magical' 2024 competition

Strictly Come Dancing

A singer from Strictly Come Dancing has praised comedian Chris McCausland's experience on this season of the show, describing it as "enchanting" and predicting that he could be the one to take home the trophy.

Hayley Sanderson from Bourne is part of the house band on the BBC show. She mentioned that watching McCausland, who is the first blind contestant, has been "incredible."

He has become the top pick among bookmakers to clinch this year's title, having wowed both the audience and the judges.

The championship match will be shown on Saturday starting at 6:00 PM GMT on BBC One and iPlayer.

Before the big finale, Ms. Sanderson expressed, "I believe when there's something truly special happening, like what Chris is showcasing, or what Rose [Ayling-Ellis] accomplished, along with Dianne [Buswell] and her work with him, it's amazing. It's fantastic!"

The singer shared that the musicians find out who is in the dance off only when it's shown on camera for the viewers. However, she has a knack for predicting the outcomes: "I've been able to guess each week who will end up in the dance off. I'm not sure how I do it, but I really want Chris to win because what he’s doing is truly amazing!"

Every finalist will showcase three performances in front of a live audience and the Strictly judges, followed by a public voting round.

However, Ms. Sanderson shared that she doesn't pay attention to the dancing on the floor, as her focus is entirely on David Arch, the musical director and conductor of the show.

"I need to focus intensely on Dave and pay close attention," she remarked.

"He's incredibly talented and exceptionally smart. I've never collaborated with anyone quite like him; he's truly extraordinary. You can’t help but pay attention to him, as he always has a grasp on what’s happening at every moment."
