Steve Bruce will be absent from Blackpool's League One match against Barnsley because of a family loss.

Blackpool has announced that their 63-year-old manager, who has previously managed teams like Birmingham, Hull, Aston Villa, and Newcastle, will be absent from the sidelines on Saturday due to the passing of his grandson.

A statement from Blackpool explained: "The club would like to inform everyone that head coach Steve Bruce will not be present at the game against Barnsley tomorrow because of the heartbreaking loss of his four-month-old grandson, Madison."

"The entire football club extends their heartfelt support to Steve and his family during this difficult time. We kindly request that their privacy is honored as they navigate through this unforeseen and significant loss."

Bruce, the ex-Manchester United player, has recorded four victories, one draw, and one defeat in his six league matches leading Blackpool since taking over from Neil Critchley last month. As a result, the team currently sits in 10th place in the standings.
